The journey
Driving from Kolkata to Digha
Digha is the trip almost every Kolkata family makes at least once a year, and it is the single most requested route in our book. The drive down NH-116B is one of the smoother runs out of the city — wide, well-surfaced and mercifully free of the truck congestion that plagues the northern highways.
Leave Kolkata by 6 AM and you are putting your feet in the water before eleven. Most of our guests book this as an overnight trip, though a determined day-return is entirely possible if you do not mind a long day. We handle both, and the fare below covers the car garage-to-garage.
One practical note from our drivers: the last stretch into Old Digha gets congested on Saturday evenings and during Poila Boishakh. If your hotel is in New Digha, tell us in advance and we will route you around the bottleneck.
Where we stop along the way
- 1
Kolaghat
The traditional breakfast halt — hot luchi, alur dom and tea.
- 2
Nandakumar
Clean roadside restaurants, a good place to stretch.
- 3
Contai (Kanthi)
Last major town before the coast; useful for medicines or an ATM.
